Professor of Practice Timothy M. Laseter teaches courses in operations strategy, innovation and emerging technology at Darden. He maintains his connections with practitioners by serving clients as a senior advisor, speaker, workshop facilitator, and expert witness. Laseter has also taught at a number of other business schools, including the Tuck School at Dartmouth, IESE in Barcelona, the London Business School, Emory University's Goizueta School, the India School of Business, Vanderbilt's Owen School and the Stern School at NYU.
Prior to joining the Darden faculty in 2002, Laseter was a partner at Booz Allen & Hamilton, helping a wide variety of global businesses with operations strategy, supply chain management and strategic sourcing. He also returned to the latest incarnation of his old firm, now Strategy& a part of the PwC network from 2014 to 2019 focused on omnichannel operations for both retailers and consumer packaged goods companies.
Laseter is the author or co-author of four books, including Balanced Sourcing, Strategic Product Creation, The Portable MBA and Internet Retail Operations. He is also a contributing editor for strategy+business, which has featured nearly 50 of his articles over the past 25 years. His academic research generally examines Internet-based businesses and has been published in a variety of leading journals, including Journal of Operations, Decision Sciences, California Management Review and Sloan Management Review.
Professor Laseter earned a B.S. in industrial management with high honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1980. The Darden School granted him an MBA in 1984 and awarded him a Faculty Award for Academic Excellence. He earned a Ph.D. in operations management from the Darden School in 2003.
