Data Analytics and Decision Sciences
The Data Analytics and Decision Sciences area prepares managers for the contemporary business environment, which requires confidence in the use of data and analytics. Beyond digital numeracy and comfort working with data, DADS faculty guide leaders on how to fluently pair qualitative and quantitative observations in support of better decision-making.
In DADS offered courses, students design analyses to support both relevant inference as well as decisive interventions. Applicable methodologies in decision and risk analysis, forecasting, machine learning and AI, probability and statistics, competitive analysis, optimization, design thinking, project planning, and management science are studied and applied in realistic case situations.
DADS faculty members have applied research spanning all functional areas of business and pursue decision science research whose origins are firmly rooted in the problems of practicing managers.
In 2022, Darden initiated the Bodily Bicentennial Professorship in Analytics to advance faculty research in the field. The position was created in honor of the contributions of Sam Bodily, the John Tyler Professor Emeritus of Business Administration to the field of decision analysis. Each year, this visiting professor will offer new insights and possibilities for collaboration with Darden faculty and students. You can learn more about Data Analytics and the Bodily chair.
