Session Information
Session 1: Detecting and Mitigating Online Toxicity with Language Models |
Toxic language undermines the internet's promise of free expression, access to quality information, and meaningful social connections. While explicit biases like racial slurs are often easily identified, implicit biases like stereotyping are pervasive, harder to detect, and equally harmful. So far, automated content moderation systems have struggled to capture subtle biases because toxicity changes quickly over time and is heavily context-dependent. In this session, we will explore the challenges and opportunities of using Large Language Models (LLMs) as fast, effective, and equitable content moderators. |
Session 2: New Frontiers of Innovation and Accountability: AI and Recruiting |
This session bridges the significant knowledge gaps in human resources surrounding the professional utilization of AI in recruiting (including generative AI systems) and the existing landscape of recruiting AI tools. It will enhance our understanding of AI's integration into high-stakes decision-making and discuss the development of effective regulations and compliance mechanisms in the hiring and employment domain. The first part of the session will report out on ongoing research on the HR tech industry and on recruiters’ use of AI. The second part will be interactive and engage participants in a discussion of our prototype of a public recruiting AI database, designed to facilitate risk-sensitive recruiting AI procurement and meaningful AI auditing at scale. |
